London: Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil believes he is presently enjoying the best run of form of his career and feels confident of their Champions League tie against Greek football club Olympiakos in Athens on Wednesday.
The Premier League side have to win the contest by a margin of two goals or a 4-3 scoreline if they want to enter the knockouts. But it will be a tough battle as manager Arsene Wenger will be without key players.
"This season is the strongest season I have ever played. I am in a good way, playing really well. I believe in myself," Ozil was quoted as saying by Daily Mirror on Saturday.
The German struggled to cope with the high tempo of English football in his first two seasons at the Emirates Stadium but now has finally found his feet.
"It will be very hard," said the 2014 World Cup winner as he reflected on the stunning 3-2 win Olympiakos registered in London in September.
"Olympiakos can play good football. We saw that in the first match. They want to play on the counterattack but we can't concede goals like we did again. The fans will be right behind them and our goal is to beat them. It is achievable to go there and win by two goals. We really have to give everything so that we can achieve this and get through to the next round."
The 27-year-old added that they were not thinking about elimination.
"We are not looking at that. We have the quality to beat them and our goal is not to even think about going out of the competition," he said.
