Though the weekend trip to Luton ended on a positive note, boss Erik Ten Hag seemed not quite satisfied with Manchester United’s performance. Despite securing a two-goal lead early in the first half, the visitors failed to take control of the game. They did create some chances but all of them got wasted due to poor finishing. Though Manchester United managed to hold on to that one-goal lead, just one mistake by the defence could have been enough to change the outcome of the match.

After the match was over at Kenilworth Road, Erik Ten Hag criticised the performance of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho. According to the Dutch manager, the forward trio failed to capitalise on several easy chances as Manchester United could have won the match 3-1.

During a post-match interview on Sky Sports, Erik Ten Hag said, “We had good chances with Garnacho and Rashford, it could have been three or four-nil. We lost some focus and we were not so strict in what we should do and they came more in the game. After half-time, we again picked it up. We had several chances one against one. I think it was Garnacho, Rashford again, it was Bruno Fernandes.”

Speaking about the current Premier League standings, Ten Hag noted, “We’re back in the race. Now we just need to keep the momentum, we need to put the pressure on the teams ahead of us, we just need to go from game to game and know every game is a final for us.”

In their next league assignment, Manchester United will be up against Fulham at Old Trafford on February 24.
