Manchester City become world's best-paid sports team
The Eastlands club have edged past Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid with their average wage of £5.2million a year per first team player.

Manchester: English Premier League side Manchester City have jumped to number one on the list of sports teams who pay their players the most. The Eastlands club have edged past Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid with their average wage of £5.2million a year per first team player and £100,764 a week.

A survey conducted by Sportingintelligence's Global Sports Salaries Survey (GSSS), compiled in association with ESPN The Magazine, shows that City were the highest paid team in 2013 ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers Major League Baseball franchise, with Madrid and Barcelona third and fourth respectively, ahead of New York Yankees and Italian powerhouse AC Milan.

Chelsea dropped from fourth to eighth whilst Manchester United fell one spot to 12th. Top 12 highest paid sports teams in the world for 2013:
