Manchester City are on the verge of sealing a 28 million signing of Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic. According to a report in The Daily Mail, Manuel Pellegrini is anxious to sign the two strikers to fill the gaps left by the recent departures of Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli.
City have been in talks with Fiorentina over Jovetic for some time, but it is understood the two clubs have finally agreed an initial fee of 23 million pounds that could rise by 5 million in bonus payments.
The 23-year-old Montenegrin footballer was signed by Fiorentina in May 2008 for 8 million pounds.
Pellegrini argued on Wednesday that City have to stop spending big and bring youngsters through. But he was involved in the purchases of Jesus Navas and Fernandinho, while Jovetic will take his spending above 70 million pounds.
It is estimated that Tevez's move to Juventus saved City 17 million pounds in wages and bonuses as the club looks to fall in line with new financial fair play rules.
