Liverpool: Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) say they have received some interest in selling the name rights for a proposed new stadium, but are yet to decide whether to leave Anfield or even redevelop it.
The prospect of Liverpool leaving their home at Anfield and moving to Stanley Park has been discussed for a long time, with the possibility of a ground share with Everton at one time being a possibility.
Previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillette failed to invest in a new stadium and their successors at Merseyside, FSG, have not yet decided what to do.
A statement released by Billy Hogan, who is the managing director of Fenway Sports Management (FSM), the commercial arm of FSG, said that keeping up with their Premier League rivals on the pitch was their biggest concern at the moment and had to come before any stadium developments.
"We see Liverpool as a truly global proposition from a marketing standpoint and a naming rights partnership with Liverpool Football Club is really unlike any other thing there is out there," Hogan told Bloomberg.
"It's something we've seen some interest in and we'll continue to have those conversations."
He added: "[the final decision] rest on which opportunity allows us to keep generating revenue to compete with the rest of our competition in the Premier League".
It is reported that an original agreement with the city council, which offered a 999 year lease over using the land on Stanley Park, was offered at an earlier date but expires at the end of this month.
