Milan: Inter Milan opened their Serie A campaign with an impressive victory over a newly-promoted Pescara in Abruzzo on Sunday. Inter cruised past their opponents 3-0 thanks to goals from Wesley Sneijder, Diego Milito and Philippe Coutinho.

The hosts played their part in an absoring opening to the game, but they were left reeling after the concession of two goals in three minutes, with Diego Milito creating the opener for Wesley Sneijder before netting himself moments later after being set up by new signing Antonio Cassano.

The hosts had an eye-catching opportunity to reduce the deficit just before the break but Emmanuel Cascione's header was kept out by the lightning reflexes of Inter goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi.

However, Inter gradually began to settle and it was they who broke the deadlock, veteran right-back Javier Zanetti cutting infield before cleverly slipping the ball through for fellow Argentine Milito, whose low ball across the face of the six-yard box was converted by Sneijder at the far post.

Inter sit top of the fledgling table alongside Napoli, who came away from their trip to Palermo with a 3-0 win, courtesy of goals from Marek Hamsik, Christian Maggio and Edinson Cavani.
