'If he Stays for Five or Six Years...': Alan Shearer's Bold Prediction About Erling Haaland Breaking His PL Record
Shearer, the all-time leading scorer of the Premier League having netted 260 goals, tipped Haaland to go past his record if the Norwegian striker opts to play in England for five or six more seasons.

Premier League legend Alan Shearer was all praise for Erling Haaland after the Manchester City forward scored his second hat-trick of the season against West Ham United. Considering his goal-scoring spree, Shearer branded Haaland as the “best striker in the world.” Shearer remains the all-time leading scorer of the Premier League having netted 260 goals. Since joining Manchester City in 2022, Haaland has already netted 70 goals in 69 league appearances. While talking about the Manchester City goalscorer, Shearer said, as per Mirror, “Erling Haaland is the best striker in the world right now. In terms of his goals, I mean, he’s playing in the hardest league in the world too.”

Shearer lauded Haaland, referring to the Norwegian’s goal-scoring ability. “I know he’s got great players around him, but he still has to finish his chances and the way he is, and how easy he’s making it look, which of course it’s not, then yes there’s no one better than him at putting the ball in the back of the net at the minute,” Shearer said.

Earlier, England captain Harry Kane looked promising to surpass Alan Shearer on the overall goal-scoring charts. The former Tottenham Hotspur star recorded a total of 213 Premier League goals before moving to Bayern Munich. Shearer feels Kane may break his long-standing record if he considers returning to English club football.

“I think if Harry Kane was to come back to the Premier League in a couple of years, then he may have a chance of breaking my record, but there’s no doubt that if Erling Haaland stays here for the next five or six years, the way he’s going, then he will definitely break it. We’ll have to wait and see though,” Alan Shearer said, as quoted by Mirror.

Haaland will be back in action for Manchester City when the Pep Guardiola-coached side will host Brentford in a Premier League fixture on September 14. The reigning champions hold the top spot in the Premier League standings, having won their three matches so far this season.
