Chelsea, Man United give provisional nod to Juan Mata deal: report
However, United are yet to make a formal offer and Mata has to inform Jose Mourinho of his desire to move.

Chelsea and Manchester United are close to a handshake over a 40-million-pound deal for Blues' playmaker Juan Mata after the two clubs provisionally agreed to sign on the dotted line, The Guardian has reported.

But before the deal goes through, Mata himself will have to inform his manager at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, about his willingness to move to Old Trafford and United will have to make a formal offer. But according to reports, it's only time before that happens.

The Guardian also reported that negotiations are at an advanced stage, with the daily's sources telling it that the transfer deal is "almost complete."

The Spanish playmaker has been on the field for full 90 minutes only three times this season and featured in the starting eleven in only 11 EPL games. Fans at Stamford Bridge sympathise with Mata's frustration on the bench, especially with the World Cup looming.
