The big match on Wednesday night in the Champions League would be the Group D clash between Manchester City and Real Madrid. The fate of both these teams hangs in the balance as a loss will push City out and leave only an outside chance for Real to progress to the knockout round. Meanwhile Dortmund, the Group D leaders, need a win at Ajax to make it to the Round of 16.

Zenit St Petersburg and AC Milan find themselves in troubled waters as far as their standings in the points table. Milan are at five points and Zenit at the bottom with three. So to keep themselves alive in the tournament they desperately need to win.

Let's take a look at who needs to do what to advance from tonight's encounters in Groups A, B, C and D.

Group A: Dynamo Kiev vs Paris Saint-Germain; FC Porto vs Dinamo Zagreb

In this group, only FC Porto are through to the next stage of Champions League, while Paris Saint-Germain require just a point at Dynamo Kiev, who have four in their account. On the other hand, Dinamo Zagreb have no hope of qualifying with no points from four matches.

Group B: Arsenal vs Montpellier; Schalke vs Olympiakos

After their resounding win over Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal clash with Montpellier aware that a slip could be costly to their last-16 hopes. But Schalke and Arsenal, with eight and seven points respectively, should qualify if they win. Olympiakos are surely not out of contention with six points.

Group C: Zenit St Petersburg vs Malaga; Anderlecht vs AC Milan

AC Milan need a win in Anderlecht on Wednesday if the struggling Italian side isn't to face the serious prospect of elimination from Group C. While Malaga have been the revelation in this group with 10 points, Zenit St Petersburg lying at the bottom of the table.

Group D: Ajax Amsterdam vs Borussia Dortmund; Manchester City vs Real Madrid

Manchester City are on the brink of elimination, lying at the bottom of Group D with just two points from four games, and their fate will be sealed if they fail to beat Real Madrid at home on Wednesday.

A win for Real Madrid would likely take them through, but Dortmund as the group leader need only a point at Ajax to advance.
