Kabir Khan NOT Making Babbar Sher with Salman, Adds ‘Would Love To Work with Katrina But…’ | Exclusive
Kabir Khan reveals what it will take for him to approach Katrina Kaif for a film again. He also praises Kartik Aaryan for making Chandu Champion a success.

Earlier this year, speculations were rife that Kabir Khan and Salman Khan are set to join forces for the fourth time after Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Tubelight. Reports claimed that Kabir would direct the superstar in Babbar Sher and added that their earliest discussions took place towards the end of 2023. It was also claimed that the filmmaker would begin work on the film post the release of Chandu Champion. Touted to be one of Kabir’s most ambitious projects to date, Salman was apparently his first choice for Babbar Sher.

But seems like there’s no truth to these stories. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Kabir debunks all speculations by saying, “These are all conjectures in the market (laughs). There’s no Babbar Sher right now.” Further, when fans learnt that Salman and Kabir were collaborating once again, they expressed their desire to see the superstar and Katrina together. The maker, however, is in no rush.

Talking about how he would approach Katrina only if the script is ‘good enough’ for her, he says, “Katrina is somebody I’ve collaborated with on many films. I would love to work with her again. But it’s all about the script and creating material that’s good enough for me to take to her. Only if I’m excited about it will she be excited about it. Whenever that happens, I would love to reunite with her. There’s absolutely no doubt that if there’s suitable material, we’ll surely work again.”

At present, Kabir is riding high on the love that has come his way for Chandu Champion which is still running in theatres. Lauding Kartik Aaryan who plays the title character, he states, “The hard work an actor puts into a film is very apparent, you can’t fake that. As a director, I speak to so many of my fellow directors and they all reacted to the hard work that Kartik has put in. He went into it with so much conviction and cut himself off from everything except for the world of Chandu Champion.”

The New York and Phantom director predicts that Kartik will emerge as ‘one of the most sought-after actors’ soon. “Sometimes you may have a daunting character and you wonder as a director if the actor will be able to give it his all. But when you see this film, you’ll realise that his honesty comes across strongly. As a director, that’s what we’re looking for. We’re looking for an actor who’s ready to go that extra mile for the character,” the filmmaker says.

Following the release of his last directorial 83, Kabir shared that it was his favourite work. So, has his opinion changed after Chandu Champion? “It’s too early to say that (laughs). There are so many films I’ve done… At this point, Chandu Champion is a film I’m very proud of. ‘Favourite’ is a very difficult term. It’s like picking one child out of so many children and that’s unfair. It’s a film that’s making me overwhelmed because of all the love I’m getting. In a few years from now, if I look back, it may be my favourite film,” he smiles.
