Headed by an Additional Director General rank officer, who is assisted by an Inspector General of Police, the Special Task Force works as teams, with each team headed by either an Additional SP or Deputy SP. STF has a pan-UP jurisdiction, and the SSP is in charge of all the operations conducted by the STF. The team also operates outside the state, with the assistance of respective state police.

How to Apply

Aspirants can apply for the Special Task Forces (STF) by appearing in the UPSC exam. After qualifying for the tests, candidates will have to choose the police service branch or take a state-level competitive exam.

Serving personnel of policemen (positions of constable and higher-ups) are recruited for the Special Task Force depending on their exceptional records and physical capabilities.

UP Police STF: Salary

Every officer gets a salary and facilities based on their rank. In India, the average gross income for a special task force officer is around Rs 7,00,000 annually. Officers also get a bonus of around Rs 24,000 on average. The average pay for an entry-level task force officer with 1-3 years of experience is around Rs 511,000 annually. In the case of a senior-level task force officer with above 8 years of experience, the average pay is around Rs 8,77,000 annually.

UP Police STF: Objective

The special task force of UP Police was created for the following objectives:

  1. Collecting intelligence of mafia gangs and intelligence-based action against such gangs.
  2. Preparation and execution of action plans against disruptive elements, especially ISI agents.
  3. Taking action against listed gangs in coordination with the district police.
  4. Effective action against robbery gangs, especially inter-district gangs.
  5. Taking effective action against interdistrict gangs of organised criminals.
