IFS Officer Shares Preparation Tips And Books For UPSC Exams

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is one of the most challenging exams in the country. The preparation for this exam includes rigorous preparation and quite a vast syllabus. People often juggle their work or college while preparing for UPSC exams, while others take a sabbatical and focus only on the exam. In such circumstances, it is important to remain confident and get correct guidance. After all, it is the dream of every UPSC aspirant to crack the exam in one go. Many students don’t know how to prepare for it, which book to read, time management, and various other things. Now, in an interview with Local18, a public servant shared a few tips and tricks and gave a few guidance to prepare for UPSC.

Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, Rahul Raj, gave guidance regarding which books to prepare from. In the interview, he shared that whatever exam a student prepares for, it is important to remember the syllabus. He shared that while preparing for the history subject, it is important to know, not just the important date or event, but to know the complete incident. For the preparation of political science, he recommended “Laxmikant’s book”. While preparing for Geography and Economics subjects, he recommended using the NCERT textbook.

The IFS officer further stated that it is “not important how long one studies for”. Rather, it is important to pay attention to what one is reading. According to him, it is important to understand the topic properly. He also suggested not taking any subject or topic lightly and paying attention to every related information regarding the subject as it will be important for your success. Further, he advised UPSC aspirants to make a timetable for studying. He believes that setting a deadline to finish a chapter will help in time management. Finally, after studying, he highly recommended candidates revise everything to jog up the memory.

When asked about a few tips for the preparation of the interview round, IFS Rahul Raj shared, “Many times people pass the exams, but are not able to clear the interview”. He believes that along with knowledge, confidence is the most important aspect to crack the interview round of UPSC exams. He suggested always having a clear understanding of the concept that one has studied. Apart from this, he advised that aspirants should have complete information about the field in which they want to choose. He concludes that if all these aspects are kept in mind, then a candidate will be able to succeed in the interview round easily.
