The administration of Kanpur University has taken a special decision for the final year students who have failed in any one subject. The university has decided to conduct special back papers so that their year is not wasted and they can continue their studies further. Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University’s Controller of Examinations Dr. Rakesh Kumar said that in the meeting of the University’s Examination Committee, it has been decided to conduct a special back paper. This special back paper will be conducted in August. The timeframe has been decided for the results to be released on time for the students. It will reportedly benefit about 35,000 students.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar said that the university and affiliated colleges had requested for special backpaper facility for the students. It will help to secure the future of students as the late back papers usually delay the degrees, eventually failing to apply for jobs at the right time. By passing this special back paper on time, they can gain admission in their further studies and apply for jobs. About 35,000 students, including UG and PG, can take advantage of this.

CoE Rakesh Kumar said that the undergraduate and postgraduate students will be given the facility to give special back papers in only one subject. With this, undergraduate students will be able to enrol in the postgraduate exams after passing and postgraduate students will also be able to apply for further competitive examinations and PhD.

Kanpur University, also known as Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), has recently achieved a significant milestone by attaining the esteemed status of Category 1, conferred by the University Grants Commission (UGC). This distinction is a moment of immense pride for the institution, which had previously been bestowed with an A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

With its inclusion in Category 1 by the UGC, CSJMU gains access to a host of benefits outlined in Clause 4 of the UGC Regulations, 2018. These privileges include greater autonomy in introducing new courses, establishing centres beyond the main campus and exemption from UGC approval for research partnerships.
