Yash Dayal Reveals Why He 'Felt Bad' After Dismissing MS Dhoni In RCB-CSK IPL 2024 Match
Dayal was hammered for a six by Dhoni on the first ball of the 20th over, but he managed to take the revenge by dismissing him and sealing a memorable win for RCB.

Yash Dayal managed to keep his nerve calm and get the better of MS Dhoni in the last over of the IPL 2024 match played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 18, 2024. It was must-win game for Faf du Plessis-led side to keep its chances alive in the cash-rich league and thanks to Dayal’s super show they managed to achieve the objective as well. But now months after his super show in the do-or-die match for RCB, Dayal has opened up about his reaction after getting the prized-wicket of Dhoni and explained why he felt bad.

During a recent interaction with Jatin Sapru on his YouTube channel, Yash said, “I felt bad after dismissing him. Because I don’t know or care what people say but the frustration with which he left the ground, it was like you don’t know whether he will return or not. Will we ever see him again on the ground? It was a moment where a lot of things were going through my head. I got a breather, a bit of relief.”

The World Cup-winning captain had a great chance to finish things off in that match after he smashed a monstrous six off on the first delivery of the 20th over bowled by Dayal. CSK needed 11 runs off the last five balls to secure a playoff spot. But Dayal bounced back brilliantly and trapped Dhoni for a catch with a slower delivery. RCB ultimately won the match and reached the knockout stage.

Earlier, Dayal revealed how Virat Kohli plotted the dismissal of Dhoni at Chinnaswamy. After conceding a six off the first ball, the 26-year-old pacer wanted to try a yorker. He had already made his plans clear to RCB captain Faf du Plessis but Kohli wanted him to bowl a slower delivery.

“He (Kohli) was like ‘Try the slower ball because if you give him pace then you won’t need to see where the ball has landed. It will always be a six’. That’s when I realised that I can’t give him speed, or else I’ll get smashed again. Taking the pace off was going to be my best option,” Dayal told News24, as per Hindustan Times.
