'Who is Comparing Them?': Danish Kaneria's Shares Brutal Take on Virat Kohli vs Babar Azam Debate
Danish Kaneria shuts down the comparisons between Babar Azam and Virat Kohli and sees only one man as the superior batter.

The Virat Kohli vs Babar Azam debate might have been a debate at one point in the past, but it is clear who is the superior batter. Following the theme, the former Pakistan spinner, Danish Kaneria sees only the man who is superior between the two.

Speaking in an interview with SportsTak, Kaneria went on to question those who called for the comparison in the first place. The former Pakistan international sees Kohli’s record which is far more superior to his Pakistan counterpart.

“Who is comparing them? I am tired of hearing that people compare them. When you’re talking about comparing, look at the runs Virat has scored. He has scored runs all around the world. He is a massive player,” Kaneira commented.

The former legspinner believes that the presence of Kohli is such that in itself can have an impact on the field, something Babar is currently lacking. Kaneira believes that the comparisons are a creation by the media. He backed his stance and called to look at both men’s stats as their careers came to an end to see who was the better player.

“Look at his stature, when he walks onto the field, his aura itself is different and he (Babar) does not come close, forget comparing them. All that is created by the channels to sell their product. I have had a lot of questions comparing them, but I have never done it. Look at the stats. When both of them retire, do take a look at the stats,” he mentioned.

At present, Babar Azam is struggling to find form with the bat. In the first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, he had a two-ball duck followed by a 50-ball 22.

Meanwhile, Kohli hasn’t played a Test match since January 2024 when India took on South Africa at Cape Town. He could be eyeing a return in India’s upcoming 2-match Test series against Bangladesh in September.
