Kohli 58 Runs Away from Overtaking Sachin Tendulkar
Tendulkar’s 100 centuries stand tall as the ultimate feat in cricket, as Kohli remains chasing, currently positioned second on the list with his majestic 80 centuries as well. But, there lies one more feather that could be added to Kohli’s cap in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.
With 26,942 runs accumulated across all formats of international cricket over 591 innings in his career so far, Kohli remains 58 runs away from the pinnacle of 27,000 runs.
Tendulkar is currently the fastest to reach the milestone, which he did so in 623 innings (226 Test innings, 396 ODI innings, 1 T20I innings). So, if Kohli could score 58 runs within his next 8 innings, he shall become the fastest to reach the milestone and most importantly, the first cricketer in the 147-year history of international cricket to reach 27,000 runs in less than 600 innings.
Kumar Sangakkara and Ricky Ponting are the two other batters in the history of international cricket to even score 27,000 runs.
