Ton-up Ravindra Jadeja Joins Elite List of Indian Test Players to Achieve Rare Feat in 3rd Test vs ENG
Ravindra Jadeja joins Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin to share a a unique record classing them as some of the best all-rounders in India's Test Cricket history.

Ravindra Jadeja managed to bring up his fourth Test century against England in the third Test at Rajkot. The left-hander is currently unbeaten at 110 at the end of the first day and this knock has resulted in the all-rounder joining an exclusive list of Indian greats in the longest format.

Following his century knock, the left-hander has now scored 3000 runs and 200 wickets in the format putting him among the elite all-rounders to play for India in the Test format.

He joins the likes of India’s first World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev who has managed to pick up 5248 runs and 434 wickets and his fellow spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who has 3271 runs and 499 wickets in the Test format.

All three names in the list have played a significant part in India’s success and Jadeja’s name is no less.

After a flurry of wickets in the top order, Jadeja along with Rohit was able to put India back in the game with a solid partnership of 200 runs. Both the batters also went on to score a century.

Following Rohit’s dismissal, it was the debutant Sarfaraz Khan who was able to get his shots going to bring up his maiden half-century quickly. Jadeja was also hovering in the late nineties and looked to get to his triple figures with a single but then the big mix-up ended up leaving the debutant heartbroken as he was sent packing after a brilliant knock of 62.

The all-rounder is also coming back after a hamstring injury he sustained in the first Test at Hyderabad. He has been having a difficult period with regular occurrences of injuries as well. But he remains intent on performing with both bat and ball for the Indian team and will look to lead the side in the Rajkot Test as well.

Despite being 35 years old, he continues to be one of India’s best fielders and puts his body on the line to take the difficult catches or enforce a run-out as well. Following his injury spell, the all-rounder intends on ‘working smartly’ with regards to his fielding but will be relied on as the man to take up the hotspots on the field.
