After whitewashing Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series, the Indian men’s cricket team will face the hosts in a three-match ODI series. The three 50-over matches between India and Sri Lanka are scheduled to take place at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 2, 4, and 7, respectively.
Rohit Sharma is back from vacations and will lead Men in Blue in the three matches. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Kuldeep Yadav are among the big players who are also back for the three ODIs, but many top performers of the recently concluded T20I series will not be seen in action during India’s only ODI series in 2024.
Ahead of the start of the India-Sri Lanka ODI series, here’s a look at the complete list of changes in the Indian team for the 50-over matches from the T20I squad.
OUT: T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, and Rinku Singh are six players from India’s T20I squad that will not be seen in action during the ODI series. While Pandya has reportedly opted for a break due to personal reasons, the other five were not picked in the squad.
IN: Rohit, Kohli, Iyer, Rahul, and Kuldeep played in all the 11 matches of the ODI World Cup 2023 for India and are back for the ODI series as well. In addition to them, Delhi-based pacer Harshit Rana, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, is also included in the squad. The youngster earned his maiden India call-up last month for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe but didn’t get a chance to play any matches, and now he is included in the ODI team after a stellar show in the IPL 2024.
