IPL 2024 Points Table Update After KKR vs RCB and PBKS vs GT: Kolkata Knight Riders Jump to 2nd Spot, Gujarat Titans Rise up to 6th
Gujarat Titans walked away with the win over Punjab Kings as Rahul Tewatia top-scored with an unbeaten 18 ball 36 to help them win their fourth game of the season.

The two sides that were languishing at the bottom, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings were unable to get some crucial points as they lost out to Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans respectively. They now form the worst two sides in the Indian Premier League 2024 following the double-header today.

In the afternoon fixture, KKR were the victors as they were able to keep their calm under pressure as they clinched the victory by just one run against RCB at the Eden Gardens. The keeper, Philip Salt was able to deliver with a brilliant take from behind the stumps as he enforced the run-out to give his side the win.

In the following fixture, R Sai Kishore was exceptional for GT as he finished with a four-wicket haul as the Titans bundled out PBKS for just 142 runs. He was supported by the Afghanistan spin duo of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad who picked up 1 and 2 wickets respectively. Mohit Sharma also chipped in with two wickets as well.

Despite a flying start in the powerplay, PBKS were unable to get going during the final game at the Mullanpur Stadium as they suffered yet another loss in what is their final home game at this stadium. PBKS were able to put up a decent fight with the ball, but the total was too small as GT chased down the score with five balls to spare.

Harshal Patel was able to get wickets regularly as he was the standout bowler for the Kings as he finished with figures of 3/15 in his three overs.

KKR Jump up to Second Spot

With the Knight Riders picking up their fifth win in seven games, they have now gone past the Sunrisers Hyderabad to take the second spot in the points table. Their superior net run rate of 1.206 allows them to go above SRH despite both sides sharing 10 points.

GT has also gone past Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals following their win to make it eight points in as many games. They hope that the likes of Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants will lose out on their respective games to allow them to get into the top four spots.

RCB Languish At the Bottom with PBKS Close by

Following the sixth loss in a row for RCB, they are now dead last in the points table having picked up just one win in the eight games they have played. Their shot at the playoffs is highly unlikely and in all certainty end this season as well trophyless.

Just above them is none other than PBKS who have 2 more points to keep them at ninth in the table. Despite the close games, they have been unable to get the wins and their last victory came against GT on the road. But they will need to work on getting over the line despite their games going down to the wire.
