GT posted a total of 231 runs thanks to tons from openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill before the hosts restricted CSK to 196 runs as Mohit Sharma starred with a three-wicket haul.
The win helped GT take their points tally to 10 this season in 12 games and lifted them to the eighth spot in the league standings, as the side from Ahmedabad kept their playoff hopes alive with the win.
CSK, on the other hand, remain fourth in the table despite the loss, but their NRR took a hit as it declined to +0.491 from +0.7.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have 10 points to their name from 12 outings, stand seventh in the league, ahead of GT on NRR. RCB’s net run rate of +0.217 trumps GT’s NRR of -1.063.
Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, the two teams who have already been eliminated from the race for the top four positions in the league stand ninth and tenth respectively with 8 points each from 12 fixtures. MI’s have an NRR of -0.212, while PBKS fare worse with -0.423.
