Dinesh Karthik was not short of words when he spoke about the brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah. The pacer has been a crucial member of India’s side across all formats and Karthik acknowledged this by even deeming the pacer as arguably the most valuable cricketer on the planet.
Speaking to former England cricketers, Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton in Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, DK believes that Bumrah is a gem of a player who can continue delivering for his team in an era which is highly favoured for batters.

The three were discussing the record-breaking clash between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League where Pat Cummins’ SRH shattered the record for the highest T20 total by smashing 277 runs in the first innings. This was followed by MI’s recent game against Delhi Capitals where DC scored 205 runs in the second innings in a losing cause. But Bumrah was able to shine once again as he finished with figures of 2/22 in his four overs.

Commenting on this DK showered praise on the pacer by saying,” That just tells you the quality of him. To be honest, I don’t think there is anyone of his calibre who can play all three formats and dominate the way he is. That’s why I think at this point, he is the most valuable cricketer on the planet”.
“Because he is playing all three formats he is strong and adept in all three formats. I can’t think of another player in any skillset who dominates it that much,” Karthik added.

The consistency provided by Bumrah in terms of being economical and more importantly picking up the key wickets as well as being able to bowl at any stage of the innings is a crucial asset for MI as they will look to maintain their positive momentum after picking up their first points of the season. The franchise is the joint-most successful side in the tournament and they will look to make it to the play-offs to make it their sixth title.
More importantly, the Indian team will also be relying on him as a key bowler for the side in their upcoming T20 World Cup campaign which begins in June.
