In an exhilarating encounter that swayed back and forth towards both sides, it was finally Gujarat Titans who stood tall at last, as Rashid Khan’s last-ball boundary sealed a 3-wicket win for the visitors over Rajasthan Royals.

Rashid Khan, remember the name. Gujarat Titans sure will, as the Afghan all-rounder clinched an absolute nail-biter of a win for his side over the Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday.

“We were targeting 45 in 3 overs and it is very much gettable and that was the mindset at that time. Mathematically both batters needed to hit 22 off 9 balls and that’s how the thinking goes and if one batter goes berserk that will do,” stated skipper Shubman Gill at a post-match interview.

RR set themselves up well, putting up a competitive total of 196 runs, powered by Riyan Parag’s 76 and Sanju Samson’s 68*.

Parag went on the attacking front taking the bowlers to the cleaners, as Samson took a relatively conservative approach picking up boundaries off just loose deliveries. Parag, who has been incredible this season, continued his good touch as he made 76 runs before being dismissed by Mohit Sharma.

Then, skipper Samson and hard-hitter Hetmeyer added some final quick runs on the board to pose a target of 197 for the Titans.

Gujarat’s gumption was just too much to handle for RR, as Gill came out and led his team from the front, slashing and dashing his way to a splendid innings of 72 runs, as he set them up for victory.

Then, it was the Tewatia and Rashid show, as the hard-hitters combined to wreak havoc over a frazzled death bowling lineup from Royals, to help down the only undefeated team in the IPL so far.

“I would have loved to finish the game, but very happy with Rahul and Rashid Bhai for finishing the job for us. Winning the ball off the last ball is always a great feeling. He (Rashid Khan) is someone who you always want on your team, he is such a competitor,” shared an elated Gill.
