Afghanistan U19 beat United States U19 by 3 wickets.
It was not a day for the batters as both sides struggled to get going with the bat in the play-off fixture. It was Afghanistan that came out on top in the end as they managed to chase down 148 with three wickets remaining and three balls to spare.
With the ball for Afghanistan, it was Allah Ghazanfar who was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with figures of 3/30 in his 10 overs. The skipper Naseer Khan Maroofkhil finished with figures of 2/19 in 10 overs while Faridoon Dawoodzai completed his quota with figures of 2/30
The US batting unit was not able to put up much of a fight but the opening batter Prannav Chettipalayam scored 33 off 50 deliveries while Utkarsh Srivastava finished with 30(53) to put up a below-par score of 148 on the board.
The bowler-friendly conditions continued on to the second innings as the US almost grabbed the victory but for Afghanistan, it was the skipper who top scored with Naseer Khan Maroofkhil a gritty 39 off 107 deliveries while Rahimullah Zurmati who finished with 37 off 49 to help Afghanistan take the victory which went down to the last over.
Among the American bowlers, it was Ateendra Subramanian who was the pick as he finished with figures of 3/20 in his quota of 10 overs while Arya Garg took two wickets for 33 runs in his 10 overs as well. Aaryan Batra also chipped in with a wicket as well but they were not able to defend the score despite coming so close.
