4,6,4,6,6,4: Phil Salt Goes Ballistic Against Romario Shepherd In T20 World Cup
In the 16th over of England's successful run chase against the Windies in their Super 8 encounter, Salt walloped three sixes and as many boundaries facing Shepherd.

Phil Salt proved to be a nightmare to West Indies pacer Romario Shepherd in the Super Eight fixture of the T20 World Cup 2024. After an action-packed group stage, England played their first Super Eight game against the co-hosts in Saint Lucia. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, the Englishmen restricted the Caribbean side to 180 runs. The defending T20 World Cup champions scored the winning runs with 15 balls to spare, thanks to Salt’s blistering knock of an unbeaten 87 off 47 balls.

In the 16th over of the run chase, Salt walloped three sixes and as many boundaries facing Shepherd. A fan has now shared a clip of the monstrous knock on X (formerly Twitter) while writing, “Phil Salt smashed 4, 6, 4, 6, 6, 4 in one over vs Shepherd”.

Fans shared their reactions to the powerful knock from Salt in the comments section. One of them suggested that the English batter gets to a whole different level on some days. “He’s fantastic on some days,” read the response.

Another agreed and said, “Phil Salt is on another level, he went from 49 off 37 balls to adding 38 runs in just 10 more balls, showcasing his incredible power-hitting capabilities.”

One user said that Salt could become the best batter in the short format soon. “Salt, future number one T20 batsman,” read the comment.

Another jokingly said, “Bro bashing West Indies bowlers as RCB bowlers.”

“What a win, congratulations English team,” wrote one more.

Salt stamped his authority against Shepherd by sending the first ball of the over for a four. He hit the full-on outside off towards the covers. In an attempt to counter the Englishman’s attack, Shepherd tried to trick him with a half-volley but Salt got all the power underneath his bat to smash a biggie. The West Indies pacer added more variation by delivering a slower one but it still could not fool Salt. The wicketkeeper-batter waited before ramping the ball over the slip cordon for another four.

The carnage did not stop there as Phil Salt sent the next delivery straight down the ground for a maximum. Romario Shepherd tried to take the pace off the ball in the penultimate delivery to send it short. Salt read it well to cleanly put it away over deep square leg for a six. The final ball from the West Indies pacer saw a low full toss that Salt lifted over the covers region for another boundary. The impressive hitting from Salt led England to a dominant eight-wicket victory.
