The PM is in Germany to encourage investment in India and marking his initiative is the Hannover Fair, where India is the largest participant.

Germany: Three hundred and seventy five Indian companies, an India pavilion spread over 11,500 sq metres and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurating the Hannover Fair 2006.

The largest engineering and technology fair in the world was dominated by Indian industry, as India was the partner country after 21 years.

The aim was to present India as an innovation and hi-end manufacturing hub to Germany.

Chairman at Siemens, V Pierre says, "We have decided on a new plant and we have 15 plants already. We are also increasing our activities as far as software is concerned."

The fair opened with the signing of four MOUs; between Kingfisher Airlines and Airbus, Indian Railways and Bahn, Force Motors and Man, and ICMR and the Helmotz Association.

Chairman at Kingfisher Airlines, Vijay Mallya says, "I am glad that my country has taken this initiative to partner such large events. We started at Davos, here in Hannover this should have been done a long time ago."

The display of Indian culture and tradition marks the 360-degree approach. India has adopted, in showcasing not just India's economic value but its multiculturalism.

PM Manmohan Singh's presence at the Hannover Fair 2006 was a clear message that India means business with Germany.

India's participation in Germany's largest engineering and technology fair is an indication of things to come as India and Germany enter a dynamic new phase of economic ties.
