Entrepreneur and philanthropist Narendra Bansal, the Chairman and Managing Director of Intex Technologies, exemplifies the adage that success is born out of struggle. Starting his business journey with a mere Rs 2,000, Bansal has transformed Intex Technologies into one of India’s foremost manufacturers of mobile and electrical equipment, valued at over Rs 6,500 crore.

Born in 1963 in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, Bansal’s early education took place in the village’s elementary school before his family relocated to Nepal. After completing secondary schooling at Vishwaniketan High School, he later moved to Delhi in 1980 and pursued his graduation at Swami Shraddhanand College, University of Delhi.

During his initial years in Delhi, Bansal engaged in various businesses, from selling key rings featuring photographs taken at Birla Mandir to operating a cordless phone business in Chandni Chowk’s Naya Bazar. With aspirations of owning his business, he ventured into the expanding IT sector, selling computer parts like floppy disks at Nehru Place market in Delhi.

In 1992, Bansal established International Impex, dealing in computer parts. Two years later, he launched Intex Technologies, expanding its product range to include consumer durables, IT accessories, mobile phone accessories, personal care appliances, and more. Intex’s products, unique for being directly supplied by Korean and Chinese manufacturers, gained popularity for their affordability.

Bansal’s company recorded a profit of Rs 30 lakh in its first year. The head office was established in Delhi in 1997, while the manufacturing facility in India was set up in 2005. With a surge in demand for mobile phones, Intex introduced low-cost smartphones in the Indian market, offering high-end functionality at an affordable price.

Reports suggest Bansal’s net worth exceeds Rs 800 crore. Married to Alpa Bansal, the couple has two children. His journey from a modest beginning to steering Intex Technologies to great heights showcases resilience, entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to overcome challenges.
