Bengaluru: Passengers Lose Their Cool After SpiceJet Makes Them Wait 12 Hours to Board Mumbai Flight
The SpiceJet flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai was scheduled to take off at 5 am, but the passengers had not been able to board even in the afternoon

Passengers created ruckus at the Bengaluru airport on Wednesday after waiting more than 12 hours to board a SpiceJet flight for Mumbai. The flight was scheduled to take off at 5 am, but the passengers had not been able to board even in the afternoon.

Chaos ensued after the passengers lost their cool and got into an argument with the airline officials, accusing them of being unable to make alternate arrangements for them despite multiple deadlines. The passengers said the airline claimed that there was a technical glitch with the Mumbai-bound flight.

According to reports, the passengers first received a message that the flight has been rescheduled to take off earlier than usual. After the passengers boarded the plane, they waited inside for two hours only to be asked to get down and return to boarding gate number 15 and were reportedly told that the flight has been rescheduled to 12 pm. Later, it was rescheduled to 3 pm and the flight is now scheduled to take off at 8.30 pm.

There was much frustration among the passengers who started questioning the airline staff about the unexplained delay and lack of updates. Passengers alleged that the airline officials were not responding adequately to their concerns.

Some people took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to vent. Some even tagged civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Airports Authority of India.

SpiceJet has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.

This is not the first time SpiceJet has come under fire for operational delays. Only a few days ago, there was ruckus at the Delhi airport after passengers got into an argument with the airline staff over a delay of more than seven hours for a Patna-bound flight. The airline claimed that the passengers were “duly informed of the schedule changes” the previous night.
