With the launch of TVS Apache RR 310, competition in sub-400 cc bike segment has increased in the Indian market. With the Apache RR 310, there is now another option available for buyers who are looking for a bike that is powerful and won’t burn a hole in the pocket. Royal Enfield Classic 350 too has been a well sought after bike in this segment.

Design and Features:-
TVS Apache RR 310
The latest offering by TVS is built on race-spec Trellis frame and the suspension duties are handled by KYB upside down inverted forks at the front and a KYB mono shock setup at the back. The brake on offer is a 300mm disc being worked on by Bybre callipers on the front and there’s a 240mm disc brake at the back. The new Apache RR 310 comes with a digital instrument cluster, upside-down forks at the front and clip-on handlebars. The bike also comes with dual channel ABS system, just like its sibling – the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
Royal Enfield Classic 350
The Royal Enfield Classic 350 utilizes single downtube chassis, using engine as a stressed member and the bike gets telescopic suspension with 35mm forks at the front and twin gas charged shock absorbers at the back. The brake on offer is a 280mm disc brake at the front and there’s a 153mm drum brake at the back. The bike gets an analogue speedometer and lacks out the electronics.

TVS Apache RR 310
Apache RR 310 is powered by the same engine that is used in the BMW G310 R. The 313 cc single-cylinder, four-valve, DOHC engine churns out 34 bhp at 9500 rpm and develops a peak torque of 28 Nm at 7500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. With a top speed of 160 km/h, the new Apache RR 310 can sprint 0-60 km/h in just 2.93 seconds.
Royal Enfield Classic 350
The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is powered by a 346 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 19.80 bhp of maximum power at 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. The engine on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. With heavy frame and engine, the bike can attain a top speed of 120 km/h.

TVS Apache RR 310
Based on the Akula 310 concept that was showcased at 2016 Auto Expo, the new TVS Apache RR 310 takes inspiration from a Shark and hence the name ‘Akula’ which is Russian for Shark. The bike gets twin LED projector headlamps and a low-nose-high-tail design. The rear of the bike boasts of the devil's horn-shaped LED taillights. The fairing on the sides and faux vents placed near the separation of the split seats adds to the sporty character of the bike.
Royal Enfield Classic 350
The latest Royal Enfield Classic 350 looks quite similar to its predecessor but gets a new paint scheme and body graphics. Introduced in 2008, the Royal Enfield Classic is designed on the lines of the J2 and it is a tribute to the retro look of British motorcycles in the post-World War II era. The Classic retains the quintessential classic British styling of the 1950s. The headlight casing, the fuel tank, the oval toolbox, the exhaust fins, the speedometer dials, the single-seat spring saddle, tail light assembly and the headlamp cap, all these conform to the native imagery of British motorcycles in the aftermath of World War II
Verdict:-
After comparing both the bikes based on their specifications and the features they offer we can say that TVS’ 35 years of racing history has completely demolished the 116 year old legacy of Royal Enfield. Both the bikes belong to very different segments and cater different audience. The Royal Enfield Classic 350, despite all the shortcomings is still the favourite of the loyalists and is still preferred by a lot of buyers for touring and commuting purposes. On the other hand, TVS Apache RR 310 is a Sports bike that can also be used as a daily commuter. If you look at the bikes from price perspective Apache is definitely a priced higher than the Royal Enfield Classic 350 due to all the features and performance it offers. The new Apache RR 310 is priced at Rs 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom), in this price segment you can also buy a Royal Enfield Classic 500 but still it wouldn’t be able to match the performance and technology that Apache offers.
