2025 Range Rover Electric Attracts Over 16,000 Interested Buyers Worldwide
As the silent powerhouse gears up to enter the market, it is poised to challenge competitors like the BMW iX and the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.

The upcoming Range Rover Electric, set to hit markets later this year, has already attracted the interest of more than 16,000 potential buyers worldwide, as per the brand’s announcement.

While the order books for the first electric Range Rover opened in December 2023, it’s important to note that the waiting list reflects interest rather than confirmed reservations.

Based on the current combustion-engine model, the first battery-electric Range Rover is anticipated to be the “quietest and most refined” version yet, according to Thomas Muller, JLR’s product engineering head. Preview images suggest that it will maintain a similar design with some unique features and will utilize an 800V architecture for rapid charging, as reported by Autocar.

While specific performance details are yet to be disclosed by Range Rover officials, Muller assures that the electric model will maintain the renowned “go-anywhere” capability of its ICE counterpart, boasting towing, wading, and all-terrain capabilities surpassing other luxury electric SUVs, including the ability to wade through 850mm-deep water.

Expected to deliver performance comparable to the existing V8 model, the electric Range Rover might exceed 500-plus bhp, powered by a twin-motor setup enhancing its all-wheel-drive capabilities.

JLR has commenced on-road prototype testing in various locations such as Sweden and Dubai, focusing on aspects like underfloor structure, battery durability, and thermal performance.

Manufactured alongside existing mild- and plug-in hybrid versions at the Solihull plant, the electric Range Rover will initially use batteries from a third-party supplier before transitioning to packs produced in Tata’s new gigafactory in Somerset.

Competing with models like the BMW iX and Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, the electric Range Rover’s design remains under wraps, with even camouflaged prototypes yet to be spotted on public roads, but is expected to closely resemble its ICE-powered counterpart.
