Although the new 2019 Ford Ranger looks a lot like the truck sold in the rest of the world outside North America, the model being unveiled in Detroit features a number of changes to make it suitable for the US market. Under the hood there won't be a diesel, but instead there will be a version of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-four that's already found in the Focus RS and the Ford Mustang. That means direct-injection, 16 valves, a twin-scroll turbocharger, forged-steel crank and connecting rods, and chain-driven cams, but what else has been done to make it right for pickup duties is yet to be revealed by Ford. The power ratings are also to be announced, but it will have to be 300 horsepower or more to compete with the market leaders. A diesel could follow later on though. Also Read: India-Bound 2018 Hyundai Santro Spotted During Testing in Europe, Clearest Images Yet
