Jyothika, a prominent actress in South Indian cinema during the 90s, is currently making headlines for her recent move to Mumbai. Speculations and rumours have been circulating about her separation, prompting the actress to break her silence and provide clarity on the matter.
Contrary to rumours suggesting problems with her in-laws, Jyothika clarified in a recent interview with a Tamil media outlet. She disclosed that during the pandemic, her parents faced health challenges multiple times, and due to lockdown restrictions, she couldn’t visit them. Jyothika expressed her concern about not being able to spend much time with her parents since relocating to Chennai at the age of 25.
The actress emphasised that after marriage, women often find it challenging to prioritise the care of their parents amidst various responsibilities. To address this and spend quality time with her parents, Jyothika decided to move to Mumbai temporarily. She also mentioned that her children attend school in Mumbai, providing an additional reason for the shift.
Jyothika asserted, “There is no other reason; it is a temporary change, and we are not going to Mumbai permanently.” The clarification aims to dispel any misconceptions surrounding her decision to relocate.
Jyothika’s illustrious career in South Indian cinema includes collaborations with renowned actors like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Ajith, Vikram, Chiranjeevi, and Vijay. Some of her most successful films include Kushi, Chandramukhi, Tagore, and 36 Vayadhinile.
Her accolades include a National Film Award, four Filmfare Awards South, three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and the Kalaimamani Award. Jyothika is married to actor Suriya, a prominent figure in the film industry, and the couple tied the knot on September 11, 2006.
