A US man was arrested on Friday after appearing to carry and eat a body part from someone who was killed by a train in the state of California.

This incident happened in Kern County’s Wasco area in the San Joaquin Valley. In an unsettling video circulated on social media, a man, later identified as 27-year-old man Resendo Tellez, appears to be taking a human leg from a fatal train accident scene and starts eating it.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal incident where a pedestrian was struck by a train at Wasco Amtrak station on Friday morning. US media reports said one unidentified individual lost his life in a tragic incident, sustaining severe injuries, including limb amputations.

Reports said that a witness recounted seeing someone pick up a detached leg at the scene. Shockingly, a video captured the suspect carrying the limb on the roadside, even sniffing it before proceeding down the street. Eventually, surrounded by police cars, Tellez was apprehended near the Amtrak station for allegedly tampering with crime scene evidence.

US Authorities noted the pedestrian was struck near the train platform. Tellez faces charges for unlawfully removing human remains. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday. Details about the victim and Tellez’s motives remain undisclosed. This marks the second instance this year of someone absconding with body parts from a train accident site in US.
