Malaysia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils Swami Vivekananda's statue at Ramakrishna Mission, Petaling Jaya in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
During his three-day visit to Malaysia for the ASEAN summit, Modi pays floral tribute at Vivekananda's statue and said that he was a sage who inspired India to greatness.
"Swami Vivekananda is not the name of a person. It is about the 'aatma' of India. It is a great fortune for me to dedicate the statue of Swami VIvekananda on Malaysian soil," he said while addressing the Indian community at Petaling Jaya.
"Vivekananda is not just a name. He personifies the thousands year old Indian culture and civilization. From the Vedas to Vivekananda, India's culture is rich. And now we are moving from 'upanishads' to 'upgraha' (satellites). His teachings are the root of India's strength", he said.
"When youngsters asked him what we should do to find God, Swami Vivekananda said go play football. According to him Jan Seva is Prabhu Seva," he added.
