Ramallah (Palestine) India's support for setting up an Information Technology Center at the Al-Quds university in West Bank not to become operational anytime soon. Though the 30 computers held up by the Israeli authorities were released on Tuesday morning ahead of President Pranab Mukherjee's visit, but Israel has made it clear that legal issues regarding frequencies of the communication system needs to be sorted out.
The IT center at the Al Quds university is to be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday.
President Mukherjee is on a historic three-day visit to Palestine and Israel, the first India head of the state to do that since India established diplomatic ties with Israel.
The visit comes in the midst of rising tensions in the region over the last one month resulting in violent clashes, both in Gaza and West Bank including Al Quds university where will also be conferred honorary doctorate.
Earlier on arrival in Rahallah on Monday, President Mukherjee laid wreath at the mausoleum of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
India also extended a $5 million support to the Palestinian National Authority for budgetary support along with a $17.79 million help for 5 other projects.
In his interactions with the Indian side, President Mahmoud Abbas said that he does not want escalation of tension between the two sides.
