Former President US Donald Trump hinted that Vivek Ramaswamy could play a significant role in his administration if he wins the upcoming election against his Democratic rival Kamala Harris. Speaking at a campaign rally on October 9, Trump praised the young Indian-American GOP leader, describing him as “smart as hell” and noted that he initially provided tough competition during the race.
“I hope he’s going to be involved in our administration,” Trump said, suggesting that Ramaswamy could oversee major government initiatives. “We can put him in charge of one of these big monsters and he’ll do a better job than anybody you can think of.”

We weren’t running against Biden before. We’re not running against Harris now. We’re up against a machine. And we require a Commander-in-Chief who is ready to *dismantle* it. pic.twitter.com/g4y69YBbeU— Vivek Ramaswamy (@VivekGRamaswamy) October 9, 2024
This is not the first time Trump has acknowledged Ramaswamy’s potential role. During a rally in Wisconsin in June, Trump referred to him as a “smart guy” and implied that he would be part of his team. “If I gave it to Vivek to do, he’d pull it off,” Trump said, referencing tariff negotiations with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Ramaswamy, who endorsed Trump after withdrawing from the race, expressed strong support for the former president at a rally in Atkinson, New Hampshire. “There is not a better choice left in this race than this man right here,” he said, urging voters to back Trump. “Do the right thing and vote for Donald Trump as your next president.”
Trump thanked Ramaswamy for his endorsement, indicating that the Indian American leader would be working with him for a “long time.” “It’s an honour to have his endorsement. He’s gonna be working with us,” Trump said.
Ramaswamy has been a vocal defender of Trump, calling him the “greatest president” of the 21st century and supporting him amid ongoing legal challenges. Back in January this year, he threw his support behind the former US president after falling short at the Iowa Caucuses. Since then, Ramaswamy has been one of the loudest voices, backing Trump for the 2024 election.
