Joseph Gerdvil, who decapitated his parents — 77-year-old Ronald Gerdvil and 79-year-old Antoinette Gerdvil — along with their dog was found on a street outside the San Juan Mobile Estates by police officers from the Orange County sheriff’s office.
A report by broadcaster CBS said that one of the heads was displayed on a counter. Their report said Gerdvil also attacked a maintenance worker. He threw a heavy shovel at police officers.
One of the heads was displayed on a counter, according to CBS News.
When a deputy ordered Gerdvil to stand down, he charged, prompting the officer to fire five shots from about 10 feet away. The first three shots appeared to have little impact on the 41-year-old, but the fourth brought him down.
When blood started gushing from his wounds and medics arrived to treat him, things took a bizarre turn as he started singing 80s love songs.
“What’s love got to do with it, got to do with it? What’s love but a second-hand emotion?” he sang from the 1984 Tina Turner hit.
Gerdvil then switched to a Stevie Wonder classic, singing, “I just called to say I love you,” from the 1984 hit of the same name.
The suspect was rushed to a nearby hospital and stabilised. He now faces two homicide charges for the deaths of his parents.
