53 dead in Ghana after bus collides with truck: Police

Accra: At least 53 people died after a passenger bus collided with a truck carrying tomatoes on a highway in Ghana, police said on Thursday.

The head-on collision between the government-operated bus heading to the northern town of Tamale and the cargo truck happened on Wednesday.

"The death toll so far has reached 53, 23 people survived," regional police spokesman Christopher Tawiah said.
