Michelin-starred Chef Rasmus Munk of Restaurant Alchemist will prepare the menu for the dinner.

SpaceVIP, a luxury space tourism company, is set to provide an unforgettable culinary experience to space explorers. They must be willing to travel 30 km above the Earth’s atmosphere in the Space Perspective’s Neptune Capsule, which is expected to take off from the Earth in 2025. Everything comes at a price. This gourmet dining is followed by a whooping price tag of Rs 4 crore per explorer. Michelin-starred Chef Rasmus Munk of Restaurant Alchemist will prepare the menu for the dinner. This journey can accommodate only six passengers. It will be a six-hour long round trip to Florida. The menu has not been finalised yet.

The space perspective–spacecraft manufacturing company, Neptune Spaceship in which the explorers will be seated, will be the world’s first carbon-neutral space capsule. It requires no g-force or other physical boosts to travel in space. During an interview with Bloomberg, the 32-year-old chef, Rasmus Munk shared his excitement for this historic journey and said that he wants his dishes to be innovative like the journey itself. He’s a chef at Danish restaurant Alchemist, which was ranked fifth in the World’s Best 50 Restaurants guide for 2023. Despite the expensive price tag, Munk said that they have received a large number of sign-ups, “more than they can fit on the spacecraft”.

“We’re aware that it’s an expensive first journey. But this is after all the first launch with these food experiences on board,” said Munk in the interview. He will also be joining the trip with other space lovers. He said the plan is to organise more trips and lower the price later to allow more people to enjoy the experience.

This trip will be organised by SpaceVIP company, which has recently acquired the three Neptune Capsules from Space Perspective Company. This craft will need a space balloon to travel 30 km above the Earth’s atmosphere. Apart from highly gourmet dining, the passengers will be able to enjoy other luxurious facilities in the aircraft like wifi and special restrooms. According to the reports, a French fashion house Ogier will design exclusive outfits for each passenger, made from innovative fabrics. The profit made from the journey will be given to the Space Prize Foundation.
