Startup CEO Claims 'No Salary' Job Offer Is Just a Satire—But Is It? LinkedIn Post Triggers Debate

With some unreasonable expectations, it is common for employees to feel overwhelmed. Heavy workloads, tight deadlines, and the challenge of maintaining work-life balance all contribute to workplace stress. Over time, this can lead to higher absenteeism and burnout. This is a crucial element that cannot be disregarded since there is a direct link between the experience of the employees and the success of the business. An Ahmedabad-based AI startup entrepreneur has triggered a similar social media debate.

The CEO and founder of BatteryOKTechnologies, Shubham Mishra, apparently said on LinkedIn that the company is looking for “exceptional humans” who can work for “zero salary, weekend off, or vacation.” The businessman explained to hindustantimes.com that there’s satire in his widely shared post.

Mishra listed the “perks” of the position after emphasising that he favoured previous founders from Israel, India or the United States.

“Zero salary. (We are seeking long-term folks to join us),” he said.

“No weekend offs, vacations. (Unless truly required)” the following point on LinkedIn declared.

“No joining gifts and too fancy office. (We don’t burn investors money, we respect Laxmi),” Mishra continued, adding that the company is using AI to transform the energy sector.

The founder of the company promised that the new employee would have “unlimited fun building real innovative products (Not copycats)”.

The post went viral on Reddit with one user stating, “I literally demand this be satire.”

“Does the word “perk” have a different meaning I’m not aware of?”, said another.

Another user said, “It’s not humans he’s looking for.”

Yet another user remarked, “They apparently need new staff as the last bunch starved to death.”

An individual commented, “They forgot to mention that application process involves donating both kidneys to the org for bootstrapping before series a funding.”

Mishra said, “Obviously it has some satire.” According to him, the objective is to weed out those who are irrelevant.

He stated that they are looking for long-term partners who may grow alongside them as they build a business for the next fifty years.
