It is not everyday that we see people giving up their property worth millions just for a social experiment. A YouTube millionaire actually did it to prove that he could make $1 million (approximately Rs 8 crore) from scratch. Back in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mike Black decided to step away from his seven-figure business as a part of the Million Dollar Comeback Challenge. He not only cleared his bank account but also left his home and started sleeping on benches. But all of this was cut short in just 10 months due to certain problems.
Millionaire Gave Up All His Wealth To Remake $1 Million
In a video titled Why I’m Starting Over During A Global Pandemic, Mike Black announced that he was quitting his successful business temporarily for a social challenge. At the time, he explained that he would put all his stuff in storage, clear his bank account and also move out of his home, besides cutting off his personal and professional relationships to start afresh.
Mentioning that he was inspired by seeing people struggle during the pandemic, Black wanted to show that it was possible to start from scratch and find success again.
In the following videos, Black shared how he initially struggled to live on the streets without his house, car and livelihood, also revealing that he was even refused water and could not find a place to stay overnight. Later, he received help from a man with a van who allowed him to stay with him. The YouTuber made his first income by selling furniture online. At the same time, he also started doing odd jobs like telemarketing and delivery work.
“One of the best things to sell are tables. I started taking ads on Craigslist in the free section, putting them on Facebook Marketplace, and selling them for a profit. I acted as the middleman, handling all the logistics between the buyer and the seller," he said in the video.
Next, as he was planning to start a business, Mike Black faced several setbacks, including his father’s cancer diagnosis and his own health issues. With just two months left until the end of the experiment, he had to stop the challenge prematurely.
According to his videos, the YouTuber’s health deteriorated as he was battling two autoimmune diseases that affected his joints and mobility. “I have officially decided to end the project early. Now, as much as it hurts me to do this, especially with just two months left, I feel like it’s the right thing to do. Something has happened that has pushed me over the edge. My health has declined to the point that I need to start taking care of it," Black added.
