Influencer Calls Vada Pav ‘Trash’ And This Is How Mumbaikars Are Reacting

Delhi is famous for aloo tikki, Kolkata is known for mouth-watering pani puri while vada pav is enjoyed in Mumbai. Recently, a popular influencer, Sakshi Shivdasani from South Bombay stunned the online users when she said that she is not a fan of vada pav – a snack consisting of a spiced potato patty sandwiched between moist buns, usually served with dips and chillies.

A video is doing rounds on the internet wherein Shivdasani shared her unfiltered opinion on this famous street snack while taking part in a podcast. “I think vada pav is trash (garbage). Like I hate vada pav. From the bottom of my heart. It’s just nostalgia. There’s no way you think boiled potatoes and bread make sense,” the influencer asserted. Even when she was questioned if she is from Mumbai, she replied, “I am.” The video has received mixed response from the viewers.

The clip, posted on February 19 has amassed more than 100,000 views and 36,000 likes. The video also stirred online debate on food choices. Many even agreed with the views of the influencer while a few users lashed out at Shivdasani’s South Bombay accent.

A user wrote, “I so agree with her last point. Chutney is bae.” Another asserted, “She makes sense btw.” “Alas somebody said it. Well done girl,” commented another.

Reacting to her accent, a user said, “Some people physically live in India but in their mind they think they’re living in the U.S and they act like this too.” A user stated, “Where is this accent coming from??”

Sakshi Shivdasani is an actress, model, and YouTuber who shares comical and fashion content on social media. She has more than 400,000 followers on Instagram. Her Insta bio reads, “One day imma voices a cartoon character and millions of people will find my voice annoying instead of thousands.”
