Many cricket enthusiasts gathered in New York to witness the first-ever international game between India and the USA.

The ongoing ICC World T20 in the US city of New York has drawn a massive crowd. It’s the first time that a major cricket event is taking place in the region, with the USA sharing the hosting rights with the West Indies. The International Cricket Council (ICC) looks keen to popularise the sport in America. To entertain the spectators, the cricket governing body made several arrangements at the Nassau County Stadium, a makeshift venue where several group league matches were held over the last few weeks. Many legendary cricketers were present in the stands and were spotted interacting with fans during the matches.

One of them was India great Yuvraj Singh, who was named the ambassador for the T20 World Cup. The 2007 World Cup winner was in attendance at the pre-match event on many occasions including the Group A fixtures featuring Team India. When the Men in Blue were playing their penultimate group league game in New York, Yuvraj encountered an awkward moment in the stands.

Many cricket enthusiasts gathered at the stadium to witness the first-ever international game between India and the USA. When the match was underway, Yuvraj was seen posing for a selfie with a fan donning the Indian jersey. Once the person was done clicking the picture, Yuvraj saw another man getting ready with his front camera.

The former Indian all-rounder perhaps thought the fan was trying to snap a selfie with him. To accommodate himself in the frame, Yuvraj bent a bit but later realised that the man was trying to take a picture with one of his family members who was seated right beside him. As soon as Yuvraj understood it, he turned back and moved away.

The moment was captured on camera by a fan and the video was later dropped on X (formerly Twitter). The caption of the post read, “SHOCKING: Yuvraj Singh Was Taking Selfies with his Fans then this Incident happened. A Person Sitting with his wife was taking a family selfie but Yuvraj thought they were taking a Selfie with him.”

Speaking about the on-field proceedings, India secured a comfortable seven-wicket victory in the T20 World Cup match against the USA. Batting first, the co-hosts set a target of 111 runs. India lost a few early wickets during the chase but Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube showed their grit to take their team across the line. With the victory, Rohit Sharma and Co. sealed their place in the Super 8 round.
