An injured deer, who was unable to walk due to a fractured leg, was granted a second chance at life, all thanks to the unwavering dedication of volunteers and veterinarians. Now, the remarkable journey of this deer’s recovery was recently shared by IAS officer Supriya Sahu on X platform (formerly known as Twitter), igniting a wave of admiration and gratitude across social media platforms.

A set of pictures captures doctors and veterinarians carefully providing treatment to the deer, while a video shows the deer standing on its leg and peacefully eating its food.

The post was shared with the caption, “The beautiful little spotted deer that you see in the video is recovering well after he was found with a fractured leg in Chennai. Volunteers of the Besant Memorial Animal Dispensary rescued him carefully and brought him to the advanced facility at Vandalur Zoo. Our vets led by Dr Sridhar successfully operated on the deer under general anesthesia. The fracture was fixed with external skeletal fixators with clamps and screws. He is now walking again thanks to BMAD and Vets at the Zoo including facilitation by the Chennai wildlife warden. Kudos everyone”.

The miraculous recovery of the deer has touched the hearts of many. The surgery, done carefully under anaesthesia, was successful as the fractured leg was meticulously fixed using external skeletal fixators with clamps and screws.
