Virat Kohli Seen Wearing 'Mysterious' Brown Band During Cricket World Cup 2023: Here's What It Does
Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and many others have been spotted this screen-less fitness band and here are the details.

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli scored his 50th ODI century against New Zealand in the World Cup 2023 semi-finals, breaking the record of 49 centuries set by Sachin Tendulkar for many years. Kohli even acknowledged the achievement by waving to the crowd and the legendary cricketer who was there at the stadium.

But many people seem to have noticed an interesting thing about Kohli and that’s the brown coloured band he was wearing which many thought was the Apple Watch Ultra. Turns out it is another fitness wearable band from a brand called Whoop which is yet to officially launch in India.

There are other sportspeople who have donned the fitness band in recent times but Kohli is a marketer’s dream, that too when they are not officially available in a market with an attractive youth population. So what is the Whoop and this special band, how is it different from the plethora of bands already available and how much does it cost?

Believe it or not, Whoop has been around for a while, in fact, the first-gen Whoop tracker was introduced back in 2015. Since then, the company has launched multiple versions and the latest one came out in 2021 which is called the Whoop 4.0.

The first thing you notice about the Whoop tracker is that it doesn’t have a screen and an even better feature of the device is that you don’t need to remove the band from your wrist to charge it.

These two traits of the Whoop band have made it popular among elite athletes like Kohli, LeBron James and many more. Not having to charge a device is an unheard of feature and that has clearly appealed to sportspeople, especially when they can wear it 24×7 to track their fitness levels and other metrics.

Whoop works through a compatible app that can be used on iOS and Android phones. It can help you track the blood oxygen levels, heart rate readings and motion. The wearable is not just limited to your wrist and the company says you can wear it on any part of the body. Most of you can say that Whoop goes up against brands like Garmin with its health focus but Apple Watch is a close match, albeit without the screen, which makes the app the go-to point to access the data captured by the Whoop band. It is priced in a unique fashion as well, giving you coach service for a subscription range.

But how long does the Whoop band last? The company says you can get about 3 days of battery and after that you just have to lug in this cube-shaped device which charges the band so that you don’t have to take it off.

The social media has been buzzing with Whoop band ever since people started noticing during the matches and it seems the company could imminently share details about its launch in India now that it has got free marketing feedback from the users.
