Expanding its Galaxy J lineup, Samsung India has introduced two new smartphones - the Galaxy J2 (2016) and the Galaxy J Max. The Samsung Galaxy J2 will be available from July 10 at a price of Rs 9,750. The Galaxy J Max, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 13,400 and will go on sale from July end.
The Galaxy J2 (2016) is a follow up version of the Galaxy J2 which was launched in 2015. The new Galaxy J2 has a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen and comes with Turbo Speed Technology (TST), which, as the company claims, loads native apps up to 40 per cent faster than devices with double the RAM.
Another highlight of the Galaxy J2 is Smart Glow, a colour LED notification system. As explained by Samsung, this feature has been developed based on the insight that smartphones tend to get cluttered with notifications.
Smart Glow consists of an LED ring around the rear camera which can be customised for priority notifications of any app or contact. While up to four alerts can be set, consumers can create and choose their own colour for Smart Glow. It also alerts a user if they are running low on battery, internal memory, or mobile data.
The Galaxy J Max, on the other hand, is a phablet that features a 7-inch WXGA display, along with 4G VoLTE connectivity.

Both the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) and Galaxy J Max are powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor paired with 1.5 GB RAM.
Packed with a 2600 mAh battery, the Galaxy J2 2016 has a 30 per cent larger battery as compared to the 2015 edition. The Galaxy J Max includes a 4000 mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) runs on the latest Android Marshmallow and the J Max on Android Lollipop.
Talking about cameras, the Galaxy J2 2016 comes with a significant upgrade over the 2015 version with the primary camera up from 5 megapixel to 8 megapixel. The front camera has also been upgraded from 2 megapixel to 5 megapixel. The Galaxy J Max sports an 8 megapixel primary camera and a 2 megapixel front camera.
Both the Samsung Galaxy J2 2016 and the Galaxy J Max are dual-SIM phones and feature the company's proprietary S bike and Ultra Dating Saving modes.
