New Delhi: After a long wait, Microsoft has finally brought its Surface tablet to India. The new Surface Pro 4 tablet - a larger but thinner and lighter version of the Surface Pro 3 - is priced at 89,990 and will be available from from January 14. Pre-orders begin today.
Microsoft announced the India launch of the Surface Pro 4 at an event in New Delhi. The device has received positive reviews since its launch.
Launched nearly a year and a half after its predecessor on October 6, the Surface Pro 4 features a 12.3-inch screen with 267 pixels per inch. It runs on 6th-generation Intel Core processor and has 1 6GB of RAM and 1 TB storage.
Microsoft is also bringing the Surface Pro 3 to India. Unlike the Pro 4, the company has not bundled the Surface Pen with the Pro 3. The prices for the Surface Pro 3 start at Rs 73,990.
Microsoft claims the Surface Pro 4 is 50 per cent faster than Apple's MacBook Air.
The new tablet comes with Windows Hello, an automatic biometric sign-in option introduced earlier this year. The feature allows users to scan their face, iris or fingerprints to verify their identity and give them access to Windows phones, laptops and personal computers.

Microsoft also includes the Surface Pen, which has year-long battery life, 1,024 pressure points and comes in five colours with inter-changeable pen tips with the Pro 4.
Surface Pro 4, along with the Surface Book, were the first Surface devices to ship with Windows 10 already installed, though older models are able to get free upgrades.
Amazon India will be the exclusive online retailer for the Surface Pro 4.
