New Delhi: Microsoft has revealed the name of its upcoming Windows 10 default Web browser, which will not be Project Spartan, but Microsoft Edge.

The anticipated Windows 10 operating system is expected to bring in a lot of changes, including the replacement of the outdated Internet Explorer.

A report on The Verge notes that the new browser plans were revealed in January and it was initially named , Project Spartan. Naming it Microsoft Edge is in line with the software giant's new rendering engine- EdgeHTML- that Microsoft is using for its Windows 10 browser.

Bringing onboard Microsoft Edge doesn't spell the death of the Internet Explorer which will still be available for enterprise customers. The new browser, however, has been designed to be basic and minimalist, which will be in tune with the present usage through portable devices like tablets.

The early previews of Microsoft Edge include new features like digital ink annotation, Cortana integration, and a built-in reading list.
