Google CEO Sundar Pichai coming to India today
Sundar Pichai is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at a Google for India event, where he will outline the company's plans for India.

New Delhi: Google CEO Sundar Pichai, along with other key executives, is visiting India to address sessions with media, developers, entrepreneurs and marketers, today at an event in New Delhi.

While the agenda of the meeting isn't clearly known, Google executives, as the company explains, will share their vision on how technology can change people's lives for the better.

Sundar Pichai is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at a Google for India event, where he will outline the company's plans for India.

The invite sent to the media reads, "India is at the centre of a digital revolution today, with millions of Indians getting online every month. India has always been key for Google and we continue to work towards evolving our product offerings for the unique needs of our users."

Pichai, along with his team of senior leaders, will endeavour to give attendes a look into their efforts to meet the needs of just today's Internet users, but tomorrow's as well.

He is scheduled to meet President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his first visit to India since he took the top job in August. He will also meet Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad later.

On Thursday, Pichai will meet Modi after which he will attend a chat session with students of Shri Ram College of Commerce. In the evening, he will attend a banquet hosted by President Mukherjee.

Modi, during his US visit in September, met Pichai at the Google headquarters in Mountain View, Santa Clara.

Pichai was born in Chennai in 1972. He went to IIT-Kharagpur before going to Stanford University to pursue his PhD.

During his last visit to India in September 2014, Pichai launched Android One.

The telecom wing of the Indian Railways, RailTel, recently signed an agreement with the subsidiary of Google India to provide WiFi facilities at 400 stations across the country.
