New Delhi: A massive earthquake, measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale, hit Nepal on Saturday causing damage to lives and properties. To help in the rescue process, tech giants have introduced Internet tools to help people affected by the natural calamity.
After Google, Facebook has launched a feature to help you know about your contacts in the affected region. The tool is survivors-only and is aimed to put at ease distressed family members or friends.
As people continue to rely more and more on technology and social media to get news and updates in natural calamities, Facebook's Safety Check feature is aimed to tell you if your contacts in the affected area are okay, Engadget report notes.
Mark Zuckerberg explains in his post that if you are in one of the affected areas, you will get a notification asking if you are safe and whether you want to check on any of your friends.
Google's Person Finder is aimed at assisting you in both locating loved ones and sharing the news with others.
