Apple Watch Ban In US Could Finally End But Users Won’t Like The Reason
Apple Watch models were banned in the country after they were found guilty in a patent case recently. Now, the company can sell without any concerns

Apple Watch sales were banned in the US recently as the company was battling a patent case with Masimo in its home market. In fact, the latest Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 were taken off the shelves in the region because of the ongoing case. But it seems Apple has finally found a work around to the case and soon it will be able to sell the Apple Watch models without fearing any further actions.

However, Apple will have to sacrifice one of the important health features which could make it less of a sell for iPhone users. The company has managed to convince the US Customs that disabling the blood oxygen sensor on Apple Watch via a software update will make it possible for the wearable to be sold in the country.

As per the patent case, it was suggested that Apple would have to make serious hardware changes to comply with the orders and open to selling the smartwatch but it seems the new move is enough to get the Apple Watch models back on shelf once again.

It must be said that the ban is currently not applicable as people are able to buy Apple Watches in the US thanks to the company’s appeal against the ban order. But experts pointed out that unless Apple makes some changes, the ban will be reinstated anytime.

Removing the blood oxygen sensor will take care of those concerns and Apple will be able sell the Watches without any further restrictions. Having said that, the company will have to make sure that people don’t try to import Apple Watches from other countries where the ban isn’t in effect, but if they decide to use it in the US, the feature will have to be locked in the country.

It is interesting to see a giant like Apple being forced into making drastic changes to comply with the law, even if it is limited to one region. But the fact that the US government didn’t cave into the company’s demands suggests it will not toe the line of the law if someone really is found guilty of any wrongdoing, which Apple seems to have admitted to in this case.

What's your reaction?
